Media advocacy

 

We aim to support and develop media advocacy products such as commentaries, press releases and opinion pieces for your organization by sharing specific facts and information within the product that would relate to issues concerning to your audience. This would make the product more attractive for global and regional media outlets based in your area to pick up what your organization has to offer whether it is for online, television, radio or print media.

Pitching to media

 

We aim to pitch media opportunities to journalists and broadcasters in your region by reaching out to them through press releases, opeds, events and media engagements as well as visiting them in person if/when there is an opportunity.

Coordinating interviews with journalists requires detail and knowledge of how the profession operates. It is vital to make sure that your champions/spokespersons are well aware of talking points for the interview and they are briefed thoroughly in preparation.

Media strategy

 

We aim to conduct research and develop creative ideas to enhance your organization’s media strategies by focusing on bringing together spokespersons/partners and journalists out in the field. This will allow journalists to understand your work’s impact as a global player.

Social media influencers

 

It is important to flag events that are set to take place in your region. These events should be brought to the attention of your team so that it becomes possible to plan media strategies and identify attendees either from your organization or spokesperson and social media influencers.

PMNCH

 

Op-Eds

We have arranged interviews with various media outlets in the MENA region, such as Al Jazeera English, TRT World, TRT Arabic, Daily Sabah, and Hurriyet Daily News. We have had requests from CNN International, TRT World as well as Al Jazeera English to interview Rt. Hon. Helen Clark on multiple occasions. We arranged interviews for TRT World with President Kersti Kaljulaid as well as Dr. Flavia Bustreo. We drafted talking points for both interviews and liaised between the media outlets and the PMNCH team in a timely and efficient manner.

 

COP26

 

Media pitching

For PMNCH, we have arranged interviews for Al Jazeera English with spokespersons. During COP26 in Glasgow, David Imbago, Chair of the Adolescents and Youth Constituency at PMNCH was a guest on Al Jazeera English’s most watched daily current events show, Inside Story. The event was also covered by Aljazeera English’s podcast, the Take. Viola Graef, Member of PMNCH Adolescent Well-Being Steering Group Committee’s comments were aired on The Take’s social account. We also received two additional interview requests from TRT World for their live news shows to cover COP 26.

Mapping to social media engagement for PMNCH

We have mapped out key events that were to take place within 2022 in the region and have shared it with the PMNCH team.

We have also succeeded in implementing our “social media influencers” strategy by  bringing on board Folly Bah Thibault, Senior Presenter at Aljazeera English and Founder of Elle Ira a l’ecole Foundation, Arwa Damon, Co-Founder of Inaraorg and Neehad Shafi, Climate Advocate in the Middle East as influencers and spokespersons. Folly Bah Thibault tweeted and posted on her Instagram page our event “Choice, Voice and Autonomy: Women’s political leadership for health in a fragile world”.
